Wild Clay

Each piece in this collection is made from wild clay that I’ve personally gathered from the local landscape. I dig the clay by hand, then carefully filter out roots, stones, and other bits of nature before refining it into a smooth, workable material. Working with wild clay is a slow and grounding process—it connects me directly to the earth beneath my feet and to the natural history of the area. Every batch of clay has its own unique character, color, and texture, shaped by the minerals and environment where it was found.

Once prepared, I throw the clay on the pottery wheel and shape it into functional, earthy forms. Because wild clay varies so much, no two pieces ever turn out exactly the same—each one carries subtle marks of its origin. The firing process brings out natural tones and speckles that can’t be replicated with commercial clay. This makes every pot a true one-of-a-kind, deeply tied to the land it came from. Creating with wild clay is a way of honoring place, patience, and the beauty of imperfection.
